Launch Party
In November 2018 we launched 1st Gen Engin with a huge party! Around 125 students, alumni, staff, and faculty attended. The event opened up with an opportunity for attendees to share their stories about being a first gen. We also had good, games, and representatives there to talk about funding opportunities. The feedback from the event was very positive. Students were very eager to start building this new community!
Mentoring Event
In February 2019 we hosted a Mentoring Event where 75+ students, staff, and faculty came together to further the discussion from the launch and continue to build connections. Students were able to rotate every 20 minutes so they could talk to a wide variety of mentors. The tables had leading questions but participants were encouraged to discuss anything relevant to them and their experiences.
